The plating and spraying process of cosmetic glass bottle

Painting and electroplating are two methods of deep processing cosmetic glass bottles to make them more beautiful and suitable for different cosmetic packaging needs. In this article, we will introduce the painting and electroplating processes for cosmetic glass bottles in detail.

Here is the list of contents

  • The spraying process of cosmetic glass bottle

  • The plating process for cosmetic glass bottle

  • Comparison of spraying process and electroplating process

The spraying process of cosmetic glass bottle

Spraying cosmetic glass bottles means spraying a uniform layer of water-based paint coating on the surface of glass bottles with an air gun. After spraying, the coating is cured after the steps of leveling, preheating, and drying, which plays a decorative and protective role for the glass bottles. The spraying process can attach a layer of organic paint on the surface of the glass bottle so that the glass packaging bottle to achieve the rich color requirements. The spraying process can achieve various effects such as high gloss, matte, pearl, transparent, gradient, etc. inside or on the surface of the glass bottle. Spraying includes internal spraying and external spraying. Internal spraying refers to the spraying process on the inner wall of the glass bottle, which has some limitations on the bottle type because internal spraying requires the glass bottle to be a bottle type with an inner liner, which can ensure that the paste inside the bottle is not in direct contact with the plating layer. External spraying refers to the spraying process in the outer layer of the glass bottle, we usually say spraying generally refers to the external spraying. The process of spraying process is basically the same, the reason for the different effects is that the raw materials used for spraying are different, and this is also the reason for the different costs of spraying.

The plating process for cosmetic glass bottle

Electroplating is the process of using the principle of electrolysis to coat the surface of cosmetic glass bottles with a layer of other metals or alloys, which is the process of using electrolysis to attach a metal film to the surface of metal or other materials. Electroplating can play a role in preventing metal oxidation (such as rust), improving the wear resistance, electrical conductivity, reflectivity, and corrosion resistance (copper sulfate, etc.) of cosmetic glass bottles, and enhancing the beauty of cosmetic glass bottles. The plating process of a cosmetic bottle glass bottle can also be carried out inside plating. The process of plating process for cosmetic glass bottles is generally as follows: a first primer the glass bottle, then plating the glass bottle using a plating machine, the material used in this step is generally aluminum, and finally top coating the glass bottle.

Comparison of spraying process and electroplating process

The comparison of the spraying process and electroplating process is mainly from the following aspects.

Requirements for glass bottles: the spraying process requires no obvious defects on the surface of glass bottles, such as thin-walled bubbles, dust, pinholes, etc. The electroplating process also has the above requirements for the surface of glass bottles, but in comparison, the use of the electroplating process requires higher surface quality for cosmetic glass bottles than the use of the spraying process.

Loss: the loss of the spraying process is between 3-5%, while the loss of the plating process depends on the specific product, generally, the loss of plating is between 5-10%.

Screen printing method: the screen-printing method used by the spraying process and the plating process are both low-temperature printing and stamping.

Adhesion: the formation of adhesion of glass bottles using the spraying process relies on temperature curing, while the electroplating process relies on strong light curing.

Test methods: The test methods for both spraying and plating processes are the same, and both have the Baig test method, the boiling test method, and the 3M tape sticky pull test method.

Storage requirements: cosmetic glass bottles processed with the spraying process are required to be stored in a dry and light-proof environment, avoiding humidity and exposure to the sun, which is the same as the storage requirements for cosmetic glass bottles processed with the electroplating process, with the difference that the storage requirements for cosmetic glass bottles processed with the electroplating process are higher.

Cost difference: the cost of processing cosmetic glass bottles using the spraying process is lower than that of the electroplating process, and the cost of the electroplating process is 1.5-3 times the cost of the spraying process.
